Dropsuits are the backbone of a mercenary's fittings. These provide your clone with immense fortitude, inhuman agility and enhanced senses. These are the major factor to take into consideration when assuming a main role or playstyle.
Each class of dropsuit is suited (no pun intended) to a distinct form of gameplay, and a player may know instantly which he/she wishes to play and never look back from there. However, it would be wise to have a basic understand of each dropsuit variation, as it is certain that your enemies will.
Categorised into three major frames: Heavy, Medium and Light. Within these frames are basic racial frames, and further specialising into a certain frame size unlocks specialty suits: Sentinel and Commando (Heavy), Logistics and Assault (Medium) and Scout (Light). These specialty dropsuits also possess racial variants.
Dropsuits require a relatively large amount of SP to be invested into their skills to acquire prototype specialty suits. To reach level 5 of a racial specialty dropsuit skill requires roughly 3.7 million SP.
Smaller frames allow for faster movement at the expense of module and equipment slots, as well as dropsuit armour and shielding. They have the ability to cloak without ruining their fitting ability. Scouts strive with weapons like the shotgun, and nova knives.
The Assault dropsuit is a versatile frontline combat suit that combines excellent protection, good mobility, and sufficient versatility for mission-specific alterations.
Assault dropsuits are intended for standard combat operations or those in which objectives are likely to change at a moment’s notice. Able to carry anything from small arms and explosives to heavy anti-vehicle munitions and deployable support gear, this is the most adaptable suit on the battlefield.
The Logistics dropsuit is outfitted with the latest in diagnostic technology, to help the wearer maintain the condition and efficiency of squad-mates and their equipment.
A soldier in a logistics dropsuit can greatly improve the overall effectiveness of his group, and fills a vital tactical role in small-unit operations and full-scale warfare by providing both medical and mechanical support.
Larger frames provides greater protection and the ability to wield heavy weapons, however equipment slots are sacrificed. Furthermore, electronic warfare capabilities are nullified due to size and inability to effectively hide a heavy dropsuit's profile.
